8 Rescue 9

8 Rescue 9 was put in service New Year Day 2009-carries emergency
medical life saving equipment. It carries a defibrillator (used on heart
attack victims), back boards (provide immobilization), stokes basket (used for
difficult rescues where immobilization is of extreme importance but environment
is not conducive to a back board), a variety of extrication
tools such as an air hammer/chisel and Jaws of
Life (used in motor vehicle
accidents to free victims), and other life saving tools. It
is not an ambulance so it does not transport people to
the hospital. All of our rescue vehicles are set up so that the
compartments on the drivers side of the vehicle have devices for medical
services and the passenger side have mechanical devices. It can carry a crew of
5. It
has a Command Light that can be used to light a large area. It is currently kept at
Company 9.
It seats 5 firefighters-2 in front and three in back.
