8 Engine 81

8 Engine 81 is our oldest vehicle in service.  It is a 1979 Ford C8000 Caterpillar with a Pierce body. It is a pumper/tanker with a Waterous pump with pumping capacity of 1000 GPM and a tank capacity of 1250 gallons. It has been in service since March 1979.  It has been the designated “first engine out” for a number of years.

1999 wasn't a good year for 8 Engine 81. After the body had been repainted, an accident took off all the overhead doors, and then the engine blew up. Both the overhead doors and engine were repaired. In general, 8 Engine 81 is the best all around vehicle the department has. It carries a crew of two. It is currently stationed at Company 8
