The Gator and Trailer
The Trail Gator was purchased with a grant from U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co. and then fitted with a water tank with a pump and hose reel by the department..
The Gator has been already proved its worth in fighting some
field fires along the railroad tracks west of Kratzville Road. The water can be
switched to foam by adding a bottle of foam concentrate to the tank. The
trailer is used to get the Gator to the scene, but then can be hooked to the
Gator's hitch to help
transport a patient from a site not near a road. The Gator is kept loaded on the
trailer at Company 8.
