Company 8 at 5220 Kasson Drive
The station on Kasson Drive, known as Company 8 because there originally were eight stations in the Suburban Fire Association, was the fire department's first fire station. It was built in 1959. This station can hold three fire and rescue trucks. It was expanded in 1975 to accommodate a much needed larger meeting room on the back of the station. As the department has taken on an even greater role in emergency services in German Township, even that enlarged meeting space was no longer adequate thus facilitating the need for the separate headquarters building. The meeting room has been converted to a sleeping quarters and lounge area for the department's personnel who wish to stay on-call, on-station overnight.
In the summer of 1999, the station was remodeled
to better accommodate fire engines that are much bigger than they were in
1959.
