Marx Rd House fire (28 images)

On September 11 about 7pm German Fire Department was dispatched to a fire on Marx Rd. A neighbor across the road called 911 that the house across the road was on fire. When the first  apparatus arrived flames were coming from every window and door. With all inhabitants accounted for the incident officer called for a defensive attack and called for a second alarm move up and asked for additional tankers from Mars and Poseyville. Tankers were soon lined up behind and in front of  Engine 8. The blitz nozzle was setup to try stop the spread to the garage and push back the flames. The fire was quickly brought under control. Then came the hard job of  overhaul - putting out hot spots and pulling down walls and ceilings to get all of the fire out. During all of this Marx Rd was closed by sheriff deputies and tankers were able to use the road to go to the corner of Koressel and Upper Mt. Vernon Rd. One resident was taken to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. Among the firefighters who were at the scene were two alumni of German Fire , Phillip Goad who is now with Black Twp and Morgan Ellis who is with Central Twp in Muncie. Most of the firefighters were home by 1am. Assisting German were all the Suburban Fire departments either at the scene or as coverage during the incident.
