Motorcycle wreck and LifeFlight pick up.

October 29th was suppose to be a quiet October Sunday; while the annual Halloween Party was taking place, then German Township Firefighters were dispatched to 4 alarms in just over 2 hours. Most of the apparatus responded to a motorcycle accident on a notorious section of Big Cynthiana Rd. (Hwy 65). The driver had gone off the right side of the road and had laid the cycle over on its side. He was not wearing a helmet and had head and other injuries from the vehicle landing on him. St. Mary's LifeFlight helicopter was called for by the duty officer before he was on scene due to the distance to nearest hospital. A landing zone was established in the field. but the pilot decided to land on the highway. There was little wind so he could bring it right between the apparatus and stay away from utility wires. The patient was already on a board and was quickly packaged and in a few minutes they were in the air and on the way to the emergency room.
