German Township Fire Department
Celebrates Fifty Years of Service
The German Township Volunteer Fire Department begins
the celebration of 50 years of service to the residents of German and Armstrong
Township. Over the years there have been
many who have served. Some served a short time while many others have made a
career of serving the public through the fire department.
We would like to hear your story. What funny story do you have to share
with our friends and neighbors? There
have been many dramatic responses from fires, rescues, children not breathing,
brush fires, false alarms, and countless others that we can't remember.
We would like to create a memories page for those who come after us to
understand the blood, sweat and tears that were sacrificed to build this fire
department. From the building of the
first fire station with donated labor and materials, adding the meeting room
while the Fire Chief was out of town at the Kasson Drive fire station, building
a second fire station again with donated labor, building of the first tanker
from an old gasoline truck, adding another tanker with donated gasoline tank and
on and on and on. What stories do you
have to share with us, funny - sad - trivial but interesting.
Let us know what your experience is and was with the fire department.
Read some of the memories of current and former members of the Fire Department.
