Hay Ride Mass casualty training (98 images)
Explorer Troop 399 once again did a great job as casualties
for the firefighters to practice their triage and medical skills. While the
firefighters were at headquarters voting on the best escape plans submitted by
the second and third graders the scouts were getting made up and
positioned. A "dispatch" came in for the duty officer and Rescue 9 to go to the
FOP Camp on Happe Rd for an incident with possible injuries. First arriving
united was told by the sc out masters that they had been on a hay ride and that
7 scouts were injured. During triage one was found to have been deceased and the
others were in various stages of injury. As the treatment and transporting was
going on it was found that one scout was unaccounted for. A party using the
thermal camera began searching the woods nearby. Soon the missing scout was
found in a dazed state and treated for a broken arm and other injuries. He was
the last one packaged and transported.
After the apparatus and equipment was put back into service all the scouts and
firefighters met in headquarters for a critique of what had happened. A guest
included in the training tonight- former GTVFF Jerrad Helligas -said he will try
to get back up here from Paducah for our next session and maybe bring some more
firefighters with him.Click a picture to see a larger view.
